# Roman Space Telescope first images

Status: Roman launched August 30, 2026 and is in commissioning on its way to Sun–Earth L2. NASA expects the first images in early 2027; none have been released yet.

Roman has set aside roughly 12–24 hours of commissioning time for 3–5 “First Look” observations chosen for public appeal and to demonstrate the Wide Field Instrument. This page lists them as soon as NASA publishes them.
